The TNT JR. Mk-2 was redesigned at the same time as it's big brother, the TNT Mk-6, to make fundamental improvements to it's performance.

This started at the fundamental level of the plinth, which is a dual layer, bonded acrylic, with a suspension utilizing solid machined Delrin corner posts in collaboration with Sorbothane isolation panels. Into this inert plinth is installed the inverted bearing assembly, which in this turntable uses a hardened steel ball running on a Delrin/Teflon composite thrust plate. The oversized platter is closely related the one used on the TNT HR-X, an all acrylic design which not only functions on it's own as an outstanding base for the vinyl, but which has been designed to work with the VPI Periphery ring, designed to give exemplary hold down performance, comparable with that of a vacuum system, but at a fraction of the price. The motor is a US manufactured, high precision 300 RPM unit as used in the reference HR-X turntable, set into a high mass, non resonant mount.
